The first Eboracum Sessions Acoustic and Folk Sesh is set to take place next month (28 July) at The Black Swan Inn on Peasholme Green. The live music session has set the bar high for their first event by showcasing the work of some of the most celebrated talent from York and beyond.
Ellen Cole, who by night is the Curator of Eboracum Sessions and York’s Little Festival of Live Music, and by day an award-winning Marketing, PR and Social Media Professional, cannot wait to see how the event goes. She says, “I have been working on music festivals for a number of years and I am always so grateful to our audiences who have supported our music events year after year. I am really nervous about the Eboracum Sessions as it is my first attempt at preparing and delivering a non-festival music event. We are already 25% sold out of tickets and I would love nothing more than for it to sell out. The Acoustic and Folk Sesh, as I have named it, will be a six-hour long family-friendly event which is going to bring together the best in acoustic and folk talent as well as those who rarely play in York. Eboracum Sessions is going to be a treat for all and is an event which should not be missed.”
The Eboracum Sessions line-up will feature a rare set from the acoustically driven duo Odin Dragonfly which features past and present Mostly Autumn members Heather Findlay and Angela Gordon, who are one of the most successful female multi-instrumental duos in the UK; the mesmerising Rachel Croft who has an unprecedented following due to her unique interpretation of alternative ethereal folk; Yorkshire Coast’s Gracie Falls who is widely known for her strong acoustic storytelling and won the UK Unsigned Songwriter of the Year Competition; York renowned lullaby folk duo The Bronze which features Holly Taymar and Chris Bilton; Americana and Folk legend Boss Caine whose latest album has received huge acclaim and has been hailed as amongst the best of British takes on American roots music; and, lastly, international gentle folk-Americana performer Edwina Hayes, who has built up her strong reputation through her beautifully written songs, charming stage presence and voice of an angel.
Ellen continues, “Every single act is so different from one another, but all compliment one another so well. Although I cannot wait to see everyone’s performances, I am particularly excited about Odin Dragonfly’s set as I have never seen them live before. They are one of the finest female duos on the circuit and they rarely play in their hometown of York, so it is going to be such a treat.”
Eboracum Sessions have been lucky to have been given a generous grant from Theakson Brewery. This grant has given Eboracum Sessions the opportunity to grow, develop and to make its stamp on the York music scene.
Eboracum Sessions will take place on Saturday 28 July from 3pm-9pm (doors open 2.45pm) at The Black Swan Inn on Peasholme Green. Tickets are £6 in advance (plus booking fee) or £8 on the door (subject to availability). It is advised to book your tickets in advance to avoid disappointment as Eboracum Sessions is predicted to be a highlight in the York musical calendar of events!
