H.C. McEntire Announces Leeds Date and New Video

Following support slots with Angel Olsen and a headline show in London earlier in the year, H.C. McEntire announces her return to the UK with a series of solo dates supporting Natalie Prass in November. Currently on tour with a full-band playing shows with S. Carey in the States, this was a perfect time to unveil her music video for One Great Thunder, taken from January’s critically acclaimed album, LIONHEART. Shot while McEntire was in Los Angeles playing solo dates, it shows her bringing some calming Southern vibes to the metropolis that surrounds her.

Following on from her tour with S.Carey, H.C. McEntire wraps up summer with full-band shows supporting Pedro the Lion. She was recently announced as opening support on the Hopscotch main stage with Real Estate and The Flaming Lips, and will also make appearances at Nashville’s Americanafest and a trio of shows with Amy Ray in October. After a short break, McEntire returns to Europe in November for a solo tour with Natalie Prass. Don’t miss your opportunity to catch these songs live!

Check out the previously released music videos for Baby’s Got the Blues and Quartz in the Valley too, then head to the Merge store where they’ve got LIONHEART on CD, LP, and limited-edition white Peak Vinyl in stock!

LIONHEART is a collection of songs inspired by the American South and a desire to reclaim “country” music from the hetero-normative, homogenous schtick of tailgates and six-packs and men chasing women. As well as collaborating with Kathleen Hanna, for the album, McEntire invited many of her favourite musicians to participate, including Angel Olsen, Amy Ray, Tift Merritt, William Tyler, Mary Lattimore, and Phil Cook, while remaining bravely devoted to her most authentic self throughout the process. LIONHEART was recorded during the first few months of 2017 with additional recording and mixing taking place on the run as McEntire toured the world as a member of Angel Olsen’s band.

McEntire will be playing at the Brudenell Social Club in Leeds on November 2nd.
