Having received over 700 applications from bands and musicians from across the country eager to play at the 2018 York’s Little Festival of Live Music, the team behind the annual event are delighted to be unveiling the line-up for this year’s 28 hour live music festival, which will take place alongside the York Food and Drink Festival on Parliament Street from Friday 21st – Saturday 29th September (excluding 24th and 25th September).
The multi-award winning music festival, which is regarded as one of the best in the city has changed it up this year by introducing acts to the line-up which York music lovers may not have heard of before.
Ellen Cole the Curator of the festival says: “I think it is so important for any festival to keep moving and this year I wanted to be more daring by introducing talent to the line-up, who I had never heard of before. All the acts complement one another well and it is going to be great for our audiences to discover more talent not just from York, but also from further afield. I never expected to get over 700 applications this year and it’s taken me nearly 12 weeks to go through them all. I am truly grateful for all the acts who have been in touch and I am gutted I couldn’t give them all a slot. Our festival seems to have taken a giant step forward this year and I am incredibly honoured to have been part of this event for the last six years. Our festival is family-friendly, has disabled access and will be located in a large marquee on Parliament Street. Our September festival always takes place alongside the York Food and Drink Festival, so there will also be plenty of delicious food and drink available. This year, we have complied a number of themed nights, so that our audiences know what to expect musically each night, from Folk to Pop to Country, we will have something for everyone to enjoy and the best part of York’s Little Festival of Live Music is that entry is free!”
This year’s music festival will feature renowned Yorkshire folk and rock n’ roll group the Jon Palmer Band; well-known American Brit-Pop band Bull who have recently returned from a successful tour across the UK, America and Europe; voice of an angel Edwina Hayes, who has won her reputation as a true natural talent of gentle folk-Americana; and renowned folk musician Boss Caine. Other acts who will be performing include Molly Teasdale, The Rusty Pegs, Andy Doonan, Stan Smith, Laura Kindelan, Ava Rose and Peter Hyndman, Leather’o, Bruni, The Bronze, Paul Lewis, The Southern Wild, Union Jill, White Sail, Ramona Rose, Jack Parker, Flora Greysteel, Ava Rose and Charlie Daykin, Evie Barrand, Casee Wilson, Smith n Wallace, Nick Hall, the memorising Rachel Croft who is one of the finest independent musicians performing alternative folk music, award-winning pop and soul performer Jess Gardham and North Lincolnshire’s folk extravaganza Ramble Gamble, who are returning to the festival after rave reviews in 2016 and 2017!
Entry into the festival is free of charge and everyone is welcome. Throughout the event, York’s Little Festival of Live Music will be fundraising for York Mind, a local charity which helps local people with mental ill-health. Any donations, however big or small, will be greatly appreciated.
York’s Little Festival of Live Music will take place from Friday 21st – Saturday 29th September (excluding 24th and 25th September) and the music will take place each evening from 5pm-9pm.
