Cinders – Interview

We recently sat down with a bunch of artists from the Stencil Label, to find out what makes them tick. Cinders were the next band on our list, and it seems that they’ve had a very good year!

How is 2018 treating you so far?

Hey, thanks so much for having us! 2018 has been an incredible year. It has been so much fun and so stressful but in the best way (if that makes sense). This year has pushed harder us than we have ever been pushed musically. We thought that taking a break from touring just to record would be an actual break – we were very wrong! It has been awesome to see everyone working together to make this new record happen though. We can’t believe that it is finally done and coming out this month!

Have you released any music so far this year? If so, what can you tell us about that?

So far this year we have released 2 songs that we think are perfect examples of what you will hear on Looking Forward to Looking Back. The first was Tree House, which is one of the heaviest songs instrumentally that we have released. The second song is called 100 Foxes, which is one of the heaviest songs lyrically that we have put out. Both together help build up what this album has to offer. We are very grateful that both songs have been received well by fans and critics and can’t wait to share the rest of the record with you!

Are you working on any new music at the moment? What are you working on, and when will it be released?

Yeah! We are very excited to announce that our brand new album Looking Forward to Looking Back will be released on September 29th! This is our second full length record and it takes a bit of a different direction than the first album. It is still the same Cinders, just more matured and more put together. We are really stoked for everyone to hear it!

Have you got any upcoming tours planned? If so, where are you playing and where are you looking forward to going most?

With the release of the new album, we will be touring the Western United States! We are heading to a few new cities and returning to a lot of our favorite cities. I think we can agree that we are all stoked to head back to Phoenix and Sacramento!

Who/what has influenced you the most as musicians?

We would definitely say our moms. Where would we be without them? They put us in music lessons and encouraged us to practice, write, and perform as much as we could! If we had a bad show, they would tell us to keep practicing. If we had a great show, they would still tell us to keep practicing. Our moms are the best and we love them so much! This new album could have never happened without them.

What have you been listening to recently that you can recommend to our readers?

We all listen to a ton of different music so we love all different genres. If you are into folk music you should definitely check out Of Sea and Stone. They are some good friends of ours and their music is beautiful. If you want something more related to our sound a couple great bands are The Lighthouse And The Whaler and HIGHS. They’re both incredibly energetic and powerful bands.

Why do you think people should pick up one of your records or come and see you live, and what can people expect from one of your shows?

People should pick up one of our records so that they can listen to it whenever they need it. Our hope is that our music will comfort someone who is going through tough times, and encourage people that are having good times to have an even better time. Anyone that comes to one of our shows should expect to have a phenomenal time filled with jumping and yelling. We put a lot of work into these songs and they carry a huge weight with us, come to a show and we’ll show you why.

Any last words for the fans?

We love you all and can’t wait to be back on the road! You guys put the “S” in Cinders! Looking Forward to Looking Back comes out everywhere on September 29th! Make sure to follow us on Spotify and Apple Music so that you can hear it first!
