Micah Erenberg comes to Leeds next month

Canadian multi-instrumentalist, singer-songwriter Micah Erenberg will be bringing his diverse talent to the UK in May and June. His tour includes a series of live performances including The Great Escape and several headline dates across the country, as well as appearances with The Leisure Society and Alan Power. The Manitoba-based artist recently released a single Somewhere Beyond The Ocean, which looks set to be included on his forthcoming album. The full length will see the light of day later this year and will be released via Sleepless Records in a new partnership.

“Where to begin?” ponders Erenberg, when speaking of the track. “This is a song that I wrote almost ten years ago. I remember the house. I remember the party. I remember the reports of my friend getting knocked out after I left. I remember the face of the person who did it. Around that time, the opening lyrics described a lot of the people in my social circles, and probably myself more than I would like to admit. I wanted to write about the feeling you get when you step away from that lifestyle. Bad habits are still habits and its harder to walk away from them than it seems.”

Erenberg’s lyrics are a mosaic of stories, thoughts and reactions from small town, big ideas Canada; the land of few people and vast, flat, lake laden landscape. His music is charming, witty, and authentic. His full disclosure style of writing makes for captivating, poetic and gracefully heartbreaking songs that display an honesty and talent that doesn’t take itself too seriously.

Micah will perform at the Oporto in Leeds on May 20th.
