Primal Scream brought their Maximum Rock ‘n’ Roll Tour to Yorkshire last week, ensuring a full house at Leeds O2.

Warming up the evening were 4 piece band The Roves, who are a guitar pop/rock band with definite undertones harking back to the ’60s. They went down well in their half hour set.

When Bobby Gillespie took to the stage, suited and booted in a Shocking Pink suit, shirt and shoes, Primal Scream were about to showcase the very best of their extensive back catalogue. They played banger after banger including Swastika Eyes, Kill All Hippies, (I’m Gonna) Cry Myself Blind, Come Together, Loaded, Movin’ on Up, Country Girl, Jail Bird and of course the night ended with Rocks. It was a high octane, no frills rock ‘n’ roll night, with a singing, dancing, clapping audience who made for a feel good atmosphere.

If you don’t have any Primal Scream in your collection, go and pick up the Maximum Rock ‘N’ Roll album as an early Christmas present to yourself. You’ll be glad that you did, and you’ve even still time to catch them live as they continue in Scotland. They’ll be back in Yorkshire next summer supporting The Hollywood Vampires at Leeds Arena (2 September), and at the Bingley Weekender (4 September).
