Harrogate Artist Litany Releases New Single

Channelling ’90s pop, gaming and youthful romance, Litany possesses a gift for crafting songs which are both acutely personal yet universally understood. It’s a skill that speaks to a huge audience, with over 60 million streams to date (including 24 million+ for her breakthrough track Bedroom) plus support from Radio 1 and BBC Introducing.

Litany’s rise continues today as she shares her brand new track Starsign. It represents her first new release this year.

Starsign finds Litany merging elements of alt, indie and DIY into potent, far-reaching pop with a welcoming, inclusive vibe. While the hook is immediately captivating, it possesses a substance that’s sure to make it an addictive listen for a long time to come. It’s a reflection of the intelligently crafted pop that inspires her: RobynChristine and The QueensHAIM and Caroline Polachek.

Litany always writes songs as if she’s having a conversation, and Starsign is no exception. In this case, it’s the message you plan to send to a wannabe lover before you realise it’s too much information and hit delete.

The song is released alongside an imaginative lyric video, which reflects Litany’s love of gaming. Designed like a scrolling shooter from the Super Nintendo era, her words are shot away as they’re sung.

Starsign was produced by Charlie Hugall (HalseyFlorence + The Machine).

Raised in Harrogate, Litany (real name Beth Cornell) formed her long-term band from the Yorkshire music scene. As someone with a flair for examining the quirks of social media, she honed a live show that quickly became an essential experience IRL. More life-affirming house party than your average indie-pop gig, highlights have included a sold-out show at London’s Garage plus sets at the Reading and Leeds festivals.

Litany will begin 2021 by playing her rescheduled UK and Ireland headline tour. It includes her biggest show to date at London’s 1600-capacity Heaven.
