Comedian Omid Djalili will perform two live shows in one night at Pocklington Arts Centre (PAC) as part of the venue’s plans to ensure the show will go on despite having to change their plans for Platform Festival this year.
Omid, known for countless TV appearances including Live at The Apollo, The Frank Skinner Show, and Have I Got News For You, was due to headline the opening night of the festival, held at The Old Station in Pocklington, this summer.
But when organisers decided not to stage the large-scale indoor festival due to the pandemic, the award-winning comedian agreed to do two shows in one night at PAC on Thursday 22 July, 7pm and 9pm, ensuring all those who had purchased their tickets for the larger festival would not miss out.
PAC Director, Janet Farmer, said: “We are over the moon that despite having to change our plans with regards to putting on a full-scale Platform Festival this year, Omid Djalili will perform at PAC twice in one night. We have some outstanding live comedy lined up as part of our forthcoming live events programme, and Omid is the perfect addition to this. We have more exciting announcement coming up and we cannot wait to be able to bring our audiences some incredible live shows once again.”
Omid is intelligent, sometimes provocative and always entertaining. His stand-up is a hugely energetic and captivating comedy masterclass.
Renowned for his razor-sharp wit, boundless energy and expertly crafted cultural observations, his original material continues to explore the diversity of modern Britain and he remains one of the most exciting entertainers on the circuit.
The event will now take place at PAC, on Market Place, Pocklington with two non-socially distanced performances on the same night. In the event of restrictions being reintroduced, PAC will let customers know in advance.
Tickets for the original event at Platform Festival remain valid, customers should contact the Box Office for further information.
Remaining tickets for Omid Djalili live at PAC on Thursday 22 July, 2021 are £25 each and on sale now at www.pocklingtonartscentre.co.uk
