Enjoy sublime live music from Welsh harpist Catrin Finch and Sengalese kora player Seckou Keita when they perform live at Pocklington Arts Centre (PAC) next spring.
This critically acclaimed and multi award-winning collaboration will be live at PAC on Saturday 21 May, 2022 at 7.30pm, in what will be a rescheduled, highly sought after and eagerly anticipated event.
The virtuoso musicians will perform songs from their new album, which is as yet untitled and due to be released next year.
PAC Director, Janet Farmer said: “Having seen this superb world music duo at English Folk Expo in Manchester in 2018, it is a privilege to welcome these BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners to PAC next year. It will be the first time that we have welcomed both Catrin and Seckou to the venue for what we know will be a stunning exhibition of world-class musicianship and a truly remarkable night of live music.”
Drawing deep on their own diverse traditions and transforming them with remarkable synergy, Catrin and Seckou have built a formidable reputation for their extraordinary performances.
Following the huge success of their debut release Clychau Dibonback in 2013, their long-awaited second album SOAR launched in April 2018, followed by major UK tours in spring and autumn of 2018.
The album takes flight on the wings of the osprey, the magnificent bird of prey recently returned to Wales after centuries of absence, which makes its annual 3,000-mile migration from the coasts of West Africa to the estuaries of Wales, soaring like music and dreams over man-made borders, on its innate and epic journey of endurance.
Entrancing, mesmerising, intricate and ethereal, this is remarkable music and a thrilling live experience.
