When You’re Not Around is the latest release from Violetta Zironi, an Italian singer-songwriter who produces pretty modern folk pieces.

The main melody of When You’re Not Around is very beautiful, having quite a haunting feel to it. The music is quite understated, but this simplicity only serves to make the track sound even more beautiful, and I found myself unable to stop listening to it. As the track progresses, more instruments are added, with strings and what sounds like a trumpet joining in later on – I loved the slow build-up of the piece and I hope our readers will do too!
