Leeds based singer-songwriter Molly Rymer has announced she will be releasing her second single, Someone Else, on 24 September 2021, the single will be available on all digital platforms including Spotify and Soundcloud, and the music video will be released on YouTube at 12am BST. Molly is playing a launch gig at 360 Club, Leeds, on the same night to celebrate the release.
Lauded for her “impressive, wandering vocals”, the singer-songwriter brings a gentle yet powerful voice to her latest single, Someone Else. As the track swells into the chorus, it details the “struggles of moving on from first-time heartbreak”, Molly explains, “not so much trying to capture a feeling of sadness, but that liminal space after a breakup when you don’t really know how to be single but don’t know how to be with somebody either. It explores that desire to understand yourself and how you feel.”
Lead by a simple but enchanting melody on the electric guitar, the song builds around a steady, quiet drum beat and a choir of misty harmonies, creating a somber but warm sound. In a song about first love, Rymer expresses an emotional range beyond her years, rightfully demanding her place on the Leeds music scene.
Written early during the pandemic, the single will finally get its chance to shine live as Molly launches it at an upcoming show at the 360 club in Leeds. Having previously played renowned shows such as #360RAW7 in association with Alan Raw, BBC Music Introducing who has championed Molly, the singer-songwriter will return with some brand-new music excited to take the stage again, following the successful release of Enough in 2019. She will perform at the 360 Club on Friday 24th September.
