Say Owt are York’s loveable gang of performance poets. They host high-energy nights of words and verse. This will be their first live event since December 2020.
This autumn the Say Owt squad are back for a great evening of powerful poetry at The Fulford Arms on 13th October. Hosted by the poetry talents of Henry Raby and Stu Freestone, this is an evening of local poetry as well as touring acts. Bad Betty Press are bringing two of their most critically acclaimed performance poets, Kirsten Luckins and Tanatsei Gambura. Joining them is York punk poet Crow Rudd.
Kirsten creates eclectic, multi-artform and collaborative poetry, with an emphasis on compassion and playfulness. She is artistic director of the Tees Women Poets collective, and co-founder of the Celebrating Change digital storytelling project, where she teaches creative memoir writing.
Tanatsei Gambura is a cultural practitioner from Zimbabwe. Drawing from personal experience, her work explores the themes of black womanhood in the context of post-colonial immigration, global geopolitics and cultural identity.
The night will feature a set of banging poems, full of wit and humour to warm your soul this October.
Best of all, this evening is FREE.
