Interview – The Lunar Keys

The Lunar Keys recently released a new single titled Stop This, which I featured in my Underground Indie Rock Round-Up Review #2. I really enjoyed the track and would like to give this underground band a little more coverage so I decided to have a chat with them to find out a little more about them.

You recently released a new single titled Stop This. What can you tell us about the track and where can it be purchased?

It’s available on all streaming platforms and there is a cool video with zombies in it on YouTube.

Have you got any plans to release a full length album/EP anytime soon?

The first Lunar Keys EP is planned for May 2022 (we are on it like Sonic with the big new tunes).

What is the writing and recording process like for you?

We write separately and then either harmonise or argue in rehearsal until we have a winner.
Its a really organic process with us and our instruments as a band.

Do you plan to release any more singles at any point in the near future?

There is something dark and heavy coming in Feb/March before the EP is released.

You’re based in Godalming. What is the music scene like there at the moment and are there any local band/artists you can recommend?

We are part of the trinity of Brighton, Guildford and Godalming – there are loads of cool bands like Libra Libra, Napia etc.

What/who influences you most as artists? What have you been listening to recently?

We are influenced by anything from Lady Gaga, White Stripes, Muse, Arcade Fire, Fleetwood Mac and Metallica.

Has the pandemic hindered your work much?

We had loads of songs in a rehearsed frame so we could add the flesh to the bones, record remotely and send off to professional mixers, so it was okay creatively.

Do you have any tour dates lined up?

We have dates being lined up for May/June 2022 plus we are blagging as many festivals as possible.

What can people expect from one of your gigs and why do you think people should come and see you perform live?

We are grace under pressure with love and attitude – we will hold you, entertain you and make you wanna scream something.

Any last words for the fans?

If you have a melancholy moon babe streak, if you feel a little lunacy within you for powerful music then what the hell are you waiting for? Listen to the tunes and come to the gigs and we will get you.
