I recently completed a round-up review on underground metal songs, with Gloria by Flames Of Fire being one of my favourite tracks from the list. The band have a great sound to their music – read our interview with lead vocalist Christian Liljegren below to find out more!

You recently released a single titled Gloria, which we reviewed. What can you tell us about the track and where can it be purchased?
Firstly Jane, thanks for your interest in our band. The song Gloria is the first single/video from our upcoming self titled debut album that will be released on all digital platforms and CD March 18th, 2022.
What is the writing and recording process like for you?
We are a team together and all members are credited as songwriters. Every single member make the sound unique and powerful. The songs usually starts with guitarist/composer Mats-Åke Andersson having an idea that he records and sends to me. I develop the idea by writing the lyrics and the song melody and then myself and guitarist Stephen Carlson continue to write and arrange the song into a great demo that our producer and guitarist Jani Stefanovic takes further. He add his elements and produces the song before bass player Per Schelander adds his amazing bass playing that gives the song a good identity – so far this has been a great process.
You’ve all been in several bands in the past, can you tell us a little about your collective musical histories?
All members in Flames of Fire have lots of experience recording and touring around the world but it’s very exciting to form a new band. We are and have been involved in Narnia, Royal Hunt, Pain Of Salvation, Audiovision, Solution.45, House of Shakira, Zaragon and many more, but Flames of Fire feels very special for us and we have lots of fun.
Have you got any plans to release a full length album or an EP anytime soon?
We will release the full length album on March 18th, 2022
You’re based in Sweden. What is the music scene like in your part of the world?
We actually live in Sweden, Norway and Finland so we are a Scandinavian band but our base for rehearsals is in Stockholm, Sweden. Right now the live scene is on hold because of Covid-19 but we hope it will be better later on – we are recording and writing new stuff until we can do concerts again.
Do you plan to release any singles at any point in the near future?
Yes, we we will release our single and video for the song Madness February 11th, 2022
What/who influences you most as a band? What have you been listening to recently?
Our musical influences are Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dio, Stryper Pretty Maids, Europe and Yngwie Malmsteen´s Rising Force. Bands I have been listening recently are Cats in Space, Nestor, Stryper and Autumn’s Child.
Has the pandemic hindered your work much?
In terms of touring it has but we are recording and write new songs a lot right now to be prepared for the future when we start doing concerts again.
Do you have any tour dates lined up? What can people expect from one of your shows and why should people come and see you perform live?
We will deliver a very powerful and energetic show where we have close contact with our audience. The songs on our album are perfect for festivals and metal venues.
Any last words for the fans?
We hope you will be excited as we are when you hear the songs on our album and we are really looking forward to meeting you all on tour.
