You recently released a song titled DAUGHTER, which we reviewed. What can you tell us about this song and where can it be purchased?

Yes, I released DAUGHTER in late November 2021. I have been a songwriter and recording artist since the age of 12, and most of my releases are songs I have written and assisted with production on. I was invited by producer Josquin Des Pres in 2021 to record some songs with him, he had me listen to DAUGHTER and I immediately connected with this song. It touched a core with me – I related it to a personal experience I had with a relationship and I knew it would connect to my listeners – I have received so many messages from people who say the song pulled at there heartstrings as well. To purchase/download the song you will find it when you search under Katie Belle, DAUGHTER, at Amazon Digital Music, Apple/iTunes, Reverbnation etc.

Has the pandemic hindered your work much?

The pandemic has not hindered my creative spark, I’ve always kept journals and I have several bursting at the seams for my songwriting sessions. What it did interfere with is live performances. The good news is that things are picking up and the local music scene in Atlanta is active. I join in on sessions with some of my music friends at smaller intimate venues for acoustic performances. I am also the lead female vocalist for a black tie band here in my hometown, the band name is Color the Night. We have over 15 bookings on weekends starting in mid-March for various events. I love performing with them! Besides all that, I am working with my manager to come out to the Southern California area and do some acoustic shows in April.

What is the writing and recording process like for you?

Writing is a process which always starts with an idea or a personal experience. I always have a journal with me! Sometimes, I will write just one sentence or a paragraph – these serve as the impetus to get a song going. If I hear a melody in my head, I will hum an example and record that on my phone, or play notes on the piano to get this tracked for future reference. This is what I take to my studio sessions where all the magic happens!

Have you started writing for a future EP/album yet?

I currently work in collaboration with Track Star Entertainment and my manager, Roxanne Stone of Worldwide Entertainment Consultants. Our focus for last year and continuing in 2022 is creating content and releasing a series of singles. I am considered an emerging artist and the single release strategy works well in holding the attention of my fan base whilst also creating a buzz with each release, which exposes me to new listeners.

You’re based in the USA. What state are you based in, and what is the music scene like in your part of the world?

I am based out of Atlanta, GA. Atlanta has a thriving music scene with many options. At this time, I perform locally at acoustic venues with a dedicated stage. The band I am lead female vocalist for travels throughout the SE – we get booked for small festivals, corporate sponsored events and lavish weddings. I enjoy singing classics, originals, top pop and country. I sit in with a friend of mine, a jazz pianist, and he and I will do some Etta James, Frank Sinatra sets…. those are always fun.

What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?

I get asked this question a lot! I grew up listening to classic rock-pop and really enjoy so many artists from the 90s to the present day – being from the southern US, country music was also a great influencer. I am in my early 20s so you know I loved Miley Cyrus, Taylor Swift & Carrie Underwood when I was in middle school. I have to say I enjoy music across multiple genres and although I listen to the Top 40, I also love discovering other artists who are not as well known.

Do you have any tour dates lined up?

There are no tour dates at the present time, my manager and I are working on some regional areas to book. First up will be the San Diego/LA area in California where my producer and manager are located. I am really active on social media and will be posting as we add venues.

What can people expect from one of your shows and why should people come and see you perform live?

I love my crowd! Whether there are 10 people in the venue or 200, I am going to talk! I have a lot of energy and love leaving the stage and singing amongst the crowd or dancing with them. That is what I love about smaller venues. I will always include some current hit songs from the radio and mix in my originals that fit the moment. It’s all about having fun, sharing my music and getting to know my crowd.

Any last words for the fans?

I want to thank my fans for all their support. I do this because this is my passion, music is a universal language and it is a privilege to share this with listeners, connecting with them through lyrics and moments. Music makes me happy and to quote from a childhood song “when you’re happy and you know it clap your hands”. I say “when the music is good, when we all share a fun time, let’s raise our hands and clap!”
