You recently released a track titled Break My Heart, which we reviewed. What can you tell us about the song, and where can it be purchased?

Break My Heart was the response from going through a rough break up. I was crushed at the time… it shook my existence. I was as low as I could get if I’m being honest. It was the first song I had penned in a minute but I had to get my experience out so I could move on. You can purchase it on all digital platforms. I would really appreciate a follow on Spotify if that’s your platform.

Has the pandemic hindered your work much?

The pandemic allowed me to really just focus on whats important. I’ve used the time to create art and launch my first solo project. I’ve also been able to focus on my new relationship which has been amazing.

What is the writing and recording process like for you?

For me, I typically have a lyrical direction, like a story to tell. Then I work on lyrics while working out melodies. I take that into the studio and we build the tracks around that while messing around with it and rewriting it until its something that has the vibe we want. I go into the studio with the intent to create the best piece of art we can create in that moment. And to have fun! Haha I love being in the studio!

Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?

I just released a second single called Stumble and we’re working on the third single right now. You can listen to Stumble on all digital platforms. I’m really excited about Stumble!

Have you started writing for an EP or an album?

There is always more music but honestly, with being an indie artist and having to pay for everything myself, I’m just releasing singles for the time being. I should be able to get a few more tracks out by the end of the year and if everything goes well I should be releasing an EP sometime early 2023. Fingers crossed!

What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?

Life is my main influence. I like to write about my experiences – the shit that leaves a mark. I’m heavy into r&b/hip-hop vibes at the moment. Right now I’m listening to Omay Lay, 6lack, Drake, Justin Bieber, BEAM, Khalid, Pink Sweats, Anderson .Paak, SAFE & H.E.R.

Where are you based? What is the music scene like in your part of the world? Are you influenced by your surroundings?

I’m based out of Edmonton in Alberta, Canada. We have a lot of amazing talent in all genres in this part of the world. I’m honoured to call it my home. And yeah! I’m absolutely influenced by my surroundings. I’ve been lucky to travel a bit and live in a few spots across North America and have always loved the connections I’ve made with people along the way. My art is a reflection of those experiences.

Do you have any tour dates lined up?

I actually don’t! With this being a new project, I’m sneaking up on that – I am planning on touring in 2023 though! So if anyone wants to book me for a show, feel free to contact me through my website at www.iamjor… I would love to connect!

What can people expect from one of your shows and why should people come and see you perform live?

Music has always been a religion for me so I do my best to put on a high energy show that connects with people. Previously I’ve been the lead vocalist in a pop rock project and lead guitarist in a party rock band ,so I try and pull on that energy at my shows. My teens were spent going to punk shows and just having fun. It’s always my intent to make sure everyone has fun at my shows and leaves with an experience that stays with them.

Any last words for the fans?

I just want to genuinely say thank you to everyone that has enjoyed my music and has joined me so early on this journey. Doing a solo project has always been a dream of mine so I just count my blessings that I’m able to share my art. Feel free to reach out to me anytime through my socials if you have any questions or just need someone to chat with. Thank you so much for the support! I appreciate it.
