Discovery: Evie Balfe

Hailing from London, Evie Balfe is an electronic pop artist whose moody and lo-fi new track caught my attention. It’s called Wearing A Crown.

Wearing A Crown is about the struggle to find happiness and purpose. It opens suitably low-key with gentle synths and melancholic chords. Evie’s vocals bring brighter notes, with warmth and understated passion that draw you in. As the track progresses, percussion and more layers of electronica come in, creating a rich and vibrant soundscape.

Though now London based, Evie was born not too far away in Lincolnshire. Musically, she draws influence from the likes of The Weeknd, BANKS and Maggie Rogers. Fans of those artists will certainly like what Evie’s putting out. Wearing A Crown is taken from her forthcoming album Do I Feel Like I’m Happy Now? and you can check it out below.

And if you like your music on the understated side, be sure to follow our Raw Stuff playlist on Spotify.
