Interview – Voyagers

Voyagers are a unique sounding world music group creating music that sounds like nothing else! I recently reviewed their latest album, Chasing Light, and I was eager to find out more!

By Jane Howkins

You recently released an album titled Chasing Light, which we reviewed. What can you tell us about this song and where can it be purchased?

Has the pandemic hindered your work much?

Yes. It’s been very difficult for Edith to travel from Austria.

What is the writing and recording process like for you?

Quick and easy, the way we like it!

Have you started writing for a future EP/album?

Not yet.

Do you plan to release any singles in the near future?

Not soon.

Whereabouts are you based and what is the local music scene like?

We mostly play in New York, although only one of us lives there. It’s not easy to gig these days anywhere.

What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?

Mande music is a big influence, and jazz. Banning is currently enjoying Vieux Farka Toure’s new album, Les Racines.

Do you have any tour dates lined up?

Alas, no.

Why do you think people should come and see you live, and what can fans expect from one of your shows?

If you ever get the chance, go for it! We really come alive with an audience. Lots of improvising.

Any last words for the fans?

Enjoy the album. Lots of years of experience behind it, but an uncertain future ahead…
