Stacey Jackson is an extremely popular human being, as she’s also a TV presenter and a writer, as well as being a pop singer. We recently reviewed her song Flipside, and I liked it so much that I checked out her song Urgent out as well, which can be found at the end of this interview.

Has the pandemic hindered your work much?
Gosh no…. I used the time to write and write and write and record. I finished my first book, wrote over 50 episodes of Stacey Jackson in the 80s for Sky, and I am in the middle of recording a new record.
Have you started writing for a future EP/album yet?
Yep… I’m actually almost finished with the new album but I think we will release it as two separate EPs. We are all just trying to figure out which track will be the new lead single. It’s so hard when you create songs to not be attached to all of the tracks in one way or another and decide which one you feel will resonate with the public.
You’re also a TV presenter. How do you balance that with your music career?
I am good at compartmentalising I guess. I think that comes from being a mom of four kids! But I had time to focus on finishing and finalising the album this summer, because I’m on a production hiatus from the show until the fall.
Whereabouts are you based and what is the local music scene like?
I’m based in London so I’d have to say the local music scene is very eclectic. I literally live steps away from Hyde Park and over this summer there have been crazy ass concerts going on! I heard Duran Duran doing their sound check while running in the park and if I stand on my terrace I can hear the concerts live!
Your music is quite poppy. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?
The 80s have be a HUGE influence on my music. I literally lived through my teens in that amazing era and started my musical journey at 15 in an original rock band while in high school. And I’ve been working out and living in gyms since my late teens too, so I’ve been influenced by all that fabulous 80s dance music as well. I think I get to authentically pull from all of the genres that passed through that time and I hope it reflects in my music today. I feel so blessed that the 80s are so relevant these days with shows like Stranger Things making Kate Bush bigger than she’s ever been!
But bringing it back to 2022 – I am a big fan of Dua Lipa. She’s been known to tip her hat to the 80s as well… I love her song Physical from a couple of years ago. I still work out to that.
Do you have any tour dates lined up in the UK?
I’ve done a few shows here and there since the world started to open up, but I have a feeling you’ll start seeing more of me when the new EP and my book launch this year.
Any last words for the fans?
It’s never too late to live your dreams, so do what you love and love what you do. Oh… and keep on dancing of course!
