Interview: Arin

I’m not normally one for modern pop music, but when I heard Arin’s track Own Worst Enemy, it really struck a chord with me! I knew I had to share it with our readers – if you missed it, the song can be found below.

You released a song recently that we reviewed, titled Own Worst Enemy. What can you tell us about the track?

Own Worst Enemy is the first of many singles coming out this year in which I experiment with different sounds and styles. This track was all about the conscious yet repetitive mistakes you make when your mind is tainted by exes.

Where can Own Worst Enemy be purchased and how has the reception been so far?

Honestly the reception has been absolutely amazing! Shaping up to be my best single yet and I’m so happy to see everyone vibing with it! Those on iTunes can purchase it there or just support me through sharing it on socials!

Do you have any more singles planned for release?

New single Therapy is out on the 2nd of September and I have a few more lined up to follow!

Have you started writing for an EP/album and are there any plans for a full-length release?

Having released my debut EP early this year, I want to focus on writing more singles and finding some amazing people to collaborate with for future EPs/Albums.

Did the pandemic hinder your work much?

The pandemic was a blessing and a curse, I’m personally not keen on online sessions, but it did give me a lot of time to focus on myself and develop my songwriting skills. So overall I’d say it did have a benefit on my music, although I did miss gigging!

Your music is quite poppy. What/who are you influenced by and what have you been listening to recently?

I grew up listening to a lot of rock and pop punk, so moving towards a ‘poppier’ sound wasn’t intentional, it just happened when I started writing more and I think it works really well. I tend to write a mixture of genres in my own time but more for fun as I feel it’s always important to explore different styles.

You’re based in London. What is the local music scene like there at the moment?

London is crazy, there’s so much going on and there is always something to see so I love it!

How long have you been writing music for? What is the writing and recording process like for you?

I started writing and playing guitar when I was 17, a few friends inspired me to pick it up and it’s flourished since then. I tend to write a mixture of independently and collaboratively as I enjoy both – each method seems to draw drastically but comparatively different results.

Do you have any UK tour dates planned?

No tour dates yet, but I do have a show coming up on the 6th of October with some amazing artists so be sure to come down! Links are all in my bio.

Any last words for the fans?

Thank you to every single person who has listened to my music, it means the world to me!
