Dutch Criminal Record Head to Leeds Soon

Portsmouth, UK indie surf rock band Dutch Criminal Record are pleased to reveal their new single C’est La Vie which is set for release on 7th September 2022 via new label home Alcopop! Records.

The trio will support Brighton pop/rock band FUR on their forthcoming September 2022 UK tour dates, and have also today announced a run of their own November 2022 UK headline tour dates.

Commenting on the track, vocalist/guitarist Joe Delaney-Stone says: “C’est La Vie is about trying to move away to a new place to try and fix your problems. Hint hint: this doesn’t work. I wrote the first few lines of the song a little while ago and never really finished it, but I rediscovered it shortly after moving to a new place in Brighton last year and it suddenly felt like it had a new meaning to me and I decided to finish the lyrics.”

“The French parts of the lyrics weren’t really anything at first, just something I thought was cool and kinda funny when I first wrote the guitar part. When I rewrote the lyrics I kinda used the French parts as an ironic little aside at the beginning of each line, like ‘Ooo la la I’m a brand new person’ but in reality I don’t speak any French, and your problems just follow you, even if you move somewhere new…”

Taking influence from the ‘60s giants of surf whilst lacing each track with narratives of living in 21st century Britain, their signature sound is guitar-driven, energetic and packed with nostalgia. Blending pop vocals, interlinking riffs, and blooming harmonies, fans of The 1975, The Backseat Lovers, and Sea Girls will find plenty to fall in love with.

Sensational live, the band’s recent skyrocketing notoriety on Tik Tok (currently running at 2 million views a month) has seen attendances rise throughout a sold out March UK tour and excitement around them intensify, as the inherently DIY band take their summer sounds to the next level.

The trio have played support for the likes of indie heavyweights Sea Girls, Ra Ra Riot, Sports Team and Spinn, and their debut headline tour in March 2022 saw DCR shows sold out in cities across the UK, including Manchester, Brighton, London, Bristol and Portsmouth. They will perform at Headrow House in Leeds on November 16th this year.
