You recently released a new track titled Family Ties, which we reviewed. What can you tell us about the song?
Family Ties is about breaking the cycle of generational toxicity amongst family. I really wanted to capture the essence of needing to break away in order to live a happier life, even if you love that person.
How has the reception been so far to Family Ties been so far, and where can it be purchased?
The reception for Family Ties has been truly amazing! I’ve been hearing similar stories from people who grew up in broken families or had a rough home life growing up. I hope that this song can help others find peace with their past. It is available for purchase on Apple Music, and can be streamed on all platforms.
Do you have any plans to release an EP or album soon?
I’m currently working on an EP that will release in early 2023.
Your music contains elements of rock, pop and electro pop. What/who influences you most as artists? What have you been listening to recently?
My influences include Linkin Park, The Weeknd, Post Malone, The 1975 and Phoebe Bridgers. I’ve been obsessing over the new 1975 releases lately. I’m so excited for their new album!
You’re based in Denver. What is the music scene like there at the moment?
Denver is one of the US meccas for electronic music due to Denver artists such as Said the Sky and Grizz. Any night of the week you’ll find EDM shows at clubs such as The Black Box and Your Mom’s House.
Did the pandemic hinder you much?
The pandemic really threw a wrench in a lot of people’s lives, including my own. Something positive I got out of it was getting time to focus on my song writing, developing my sound as a solo artist.
What is the writing and recording process like?
For me, writing generally starts with the overall message I want to convey with the lyrics. From there, everything else forms to fit the vibe. I do a lot of my recording from my home studio with my cowriter Jaxon Stunden.
Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?
No shows planned for the UK, but I’d love to make a trip across the pond in the future. If there’s any UK promoters out there looking for an American indie pop act, hit me up (wink, wink).
