Moon And Aries are a duo that I featured here a few months ago, consisting of German composer and producer Tom Aries and Canadian singer and writer Jordana Moon. The duo have teamed up to release a new EP, BREAK THE MATRIX (Episode One), bringing futuristic celestial sounds to the masses with their own brand of electronic pop goodness.

BREAK THE MATRIX (Episode One) consists of three amazing tracks, designed to draw the listener into Moon And Aries’ captivating world instantly. Closer And Closer opens things nicely, with some bubbling synths contrasting with the dark piano chords and an upbeat drum beat. The vocals have an ethereal quality, weaving in and out of the music as more and more electronic effects are added over time. It’s a fantastic opening tune, and one I really enjoyed!
The In Between starts out a little differently, with a semi-tribal drum beat bringing the song to fruition, alongside the piano chords. The vocals appear soon afterwards, as do some backing synths with an orchestral quality. It’s a really pretty sounding track, having a mystical vibe about it. The backing vocals combine well with the lead vocals, before the vocals disappear completely and the song breaks down, before kicking back in again. It all makes for an interesting sequence of events!
Losing Control is the final song on the EP, bringing the synths back to the forefront of the music, although the piano and drums are still present. One of the things that struck me most about this track was how amazing the production quality is – the sound envelops you completely, and there’s so much going on here, underneath the surface. This time around, Tom’s vocals are added, changing the style of the music up a little from the previous tracks.
BREAK THE MATRIX (Episode One) is an apt title, as the music contained on this EP truly has an otherworldly feel. It’s great to hear Moon And Aries doing something different from the norm, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next time around!
