DataBass is the clever performing name of an American student that has just hit my radar thanks to her self-written, produced and performed track Make Our Art.
By Graeme Smith
Make Our Art is a charming and welcoming track. The vocals grab you instantly during a stripped-back intro before the complexity of the instrumentals grow. Combining neoclassical and ambient electronica, it’s quite unlike anything I’ve heard before. Yet, the most arresting part has to be the poetic and heart-breaking lyrics.
DataBass is inspired by contemporary classical artists like Hans Zimmer, Philip Glass and Thomas Bergersen, but her sound is truly her own. Fresh and exciting, I can’t wait to hear more from her.
