Silas Armstrong is a fantastic new artist on the scene based in Brixton – I stumbled across his track Silver recently, wanting to share it with the world due to how good it is! If you liked the song, make sure you read through this interview to find out more about Silas and his music!

You recently released a track titled Silver, which we reviewed. What can you tell us about the song?
It’s a classic love song really, 80s inspired with a sexy sax solo to boot.
How has the reception been for Silver, and where can it be purchased?
It’s been my most successful release yet! 37k streams on Spotify at the time of writing, and it’s available on all digital platforms.
You’ve also just released a new single called I’m Not Ok. What can you tell us about that track?
It’s about mental health and people’s (particularly men’s) inability to speak up about their feelings. I use music to talk about my own feelings, I hope this song encourages others to talk about their feelings more openly.
Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?
I’ve got a drum and bass remix by Aymen Valentino dropping on 2nd December, then I’ve got two more singles planned for the new year and an album in the works.
Are there any plans to release an EP or album?
I’m recording my debut album in January 2023 with plans to release a few more singles in the build up to the album release, before the summer.
Has the pandemic hindered your work much?
Quite the opposite, it forced me to find new ways of working and made me more focused and productive.
Your music has quite a poppy sound.. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?
I’ve got so many influences, recently I’ve been loving the new album from The 1975. Right now I’m listening to The Roots Tiny Desk Concert, but my biggest musical influence since I was young had got to be Toto.
Where are you based? What is the local music scene like?
I live in Brixton and the music scene in South London is incredible right now. Everything from jazz, funk, disco and soul to some insanely talented grime and hip-hop artists. I also work with Brixton Chamber Orchestra, which keeps me on my toes.
Do you have any UK tour dates lined up?
I have an intimate live show this week actually, on a boat on the River Thames. It’s part podcast, part live show. More live shows/festivals to follow in 2023.
Any last words for the fans?
Thanks for reading, listening and watching. Follow me on socials or subscribe to my YouTube if you don’t already. I make all my own music videos, so it means a lot to me when I see people actually watch them!
