You recently released a single titled Lost Without You. What can you tell us about the track?

I have always been a fan of Robin Thicke and I think this song is so well written and so sexy. My incredible producer, Sam J Garfield, and I were on tour in San Diego, and we were listening to some music when he brought up the genius idea of covering this song. We hadn’t yet heard a good female rendition and thought we could pay homage to the original while really putting our unique spin on it. Sam J Garfield is iconic and while versatile in style and genre, he has very distinctive sounds and elements that he has become known for, and that have captured the ears of other major artists. I was excited to see what he would do with this track. Personally, I was immediately reworking the vocal arrangement in my head and was getting excited to really elevate the vocal choices, push the limits on the songs current range and enhance the vocal technique, while not overdoing it. I think we found a beautiful blend.

It’s a cover of a Robin Thicke song. Why did you decide to cover that track, and can we expect any more covers from you in the future?

This track caters to my style, my voice and is simple enough (in terms of production and vocal arrangements) to manipulate and really make my own. There is a lot of space within the original song to experiment and add little gems. I don’t typically do a lot of covers, but this one just felt right.

How has the reception to Lost Without You been so far, and where can the song be purchased?

The reception has been amazing, especially to the corresponding music video! I worked with Vincent House Productions on this one and they absolutely killed it. From the initial concept to set decking to postproduction, the video was top notch, and their professionalism was unrivaled. I have done many visual videos and music videos in my career, and this is definitely one of the best to date. A special shout out to Ossey James, Carter Ray, Catie Loth, Bird Vincent and Kaio Queiroz, my incredible production team.

The song is available for purchase/streaming on any one of your favorite platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, iTunes, YouTube and more. The video is also available to watch on YouTube. All links to music/video can be found on my Instagram@fianyxxmusix

Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?

I actually have two original Christmas songs dropping on December 9th and I am so excited about these! Stay tuned!

Do you plan to release an EP or an album anytime soon?

I just released my second album, Red Umbrella, back in April and I’m still touring and promoting that music, which I am very proud of! If you haven’t heard it yet, go check it out. However, I am switching gears a bit on my next album, which goes into pre-production at the end of January. I can’t give too much away, but this will showcase a whole different side of Fia Nyxx that has been DYINGGGG to come out!

Did the pandemic hinder your work much?

The pandemic actually did just the opposite for me. It was during the pandemic that I studied music PR from my esteemed coach of the stars and went on to create my now very successful PR company, RRH Public Relations. It was during this time that I completed my best, most successful body of work, Red Umbrella, and it was where I got to spend every single day with my best friend and producer, Sam J Garfield, doing what we do best – experimenting and creating incredible music. I wouldn’t trade that time for the world. It shaped me and elevated me into the person and the artist that I am today.

Your music mixes together elements of r&b, pop and Motown. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?

Some of my biggest influences are Etta James, Stevie Wonder, Prince, Queen, Christina Aguilera, The Beatles, ZZ Top. I am recently obsessed with Sabrina Claudio, Labrinth, ZEE MACHINE (a killer indie artist, if you don’t know him yet check him out), Hozier, Lizzo and Jon Batiste.

Where are you based? What is the music scene like in your part of the world?

I am bi-coastal, splitting my time between Los Angeles and NY/Maryland. My fiancé and I just bought a house in Maryland, and I travel up to NYC often. I am in LA every couple of weeks for recording sessions/tour dates/pop-up performances. I also travel to Colorado (where I am originally from) to perform in Denver a lot. I am blessed to travel so often and have fans in some of the biggest music capitals of the world!

Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?
