York band The Howl & The Hum have announced their Live At York Minster album is finally set for a vinyl release thanks to FairSound, a new pre-order based e-commerce platform from Middlesbrough based pressing plant Press On Vinyl.
Now available to pre-order on vinyl for the first time ever, the album perfectly captures the band’s mesmerising live performance at York’s historic Minster building. Recorded in between lockdowns at the famous cathedral in May 2021, the show was streamed to hundreds of fans alongside a live audience who were lucky enough to be in attendance. Performing songs from their debut album Human Contact (in some cases for the very first time), the band were joined onstage by a large choir and string section, combining to stunning effect and resulting in some truly unique arrangements of the Howl & The Hum’s best-known songs. Mixed by Isaac McInnis with live sound by Drew Coleman, the quality of the recording is a testament to everyone involved; truly showcasing an incredible band at the top of their game in the most heavenly of environments.
Live At York Minster is available via FairSound, a new platform designed to provide users with a simple and transparent set of tools for building a bespoke vinyl release, from artists running their own DIY campaigns on a tight budget to labels gauging interest in exciting but niche releases. As soon as enough pre-orders are in, the record will pass the Press On Point and the manufacturing process can begin; continuing based on up-to-date, pre-order demands to provide a low-risk and cost-effective alternative to the traditional vinyl production process with no upfront costs. Furthermore, FairSound will distribute vinyl directly to fans and stores; lifting the burden from artists and labels and reducing shipping costs & environmental impact.
