I recently completed a round-up review based on holiday/Christmas songs with a wintery feel. One of my favourite tracks was My Christmas by American artist Mark Winters. I decided to get in touch with Mark to find out a bit more about his music and how he celebrates the holidays – you can find the completed interview below!

You recently released a track titled My Christmas, which we reviewed. What can you tell us about the song?
Everyone has been very kind and supportive, my friends and fans even helped me with the music video by dressing up, singing along and making cameos in the video! I have really enjoyed playing it live at some shows. All in all, pretty amazing!
Do I plan to release more holiday songs next year?
Yes! I have a few more that I have written, but I may release a cover – there are so many amazing Christmas songs. I even made some Reels/TikTok’s with my favorite Christmas covers.
How do you like to celebrate this time of year?
I love big family gatherings and shopping for everyone on my list. I also love performing holiday songs and try to get out and give back to my community as often as I can.
Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?
Yes, I have a new single in the works that will come out in the spring. Stay tuned for some more positive vibes!
Are there any plans to release an EP or album?
I will likely release a few singles this year and an EP next year. I’ve been writing a lot this year and plan to continue, so I have lots of choices to go into the studio with.
Your music mixes together rock and pop. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?
Tom Petty, John Mayer and Jason Mraz are my early influences, I love how well Tom Petty simplifies and connects with his music, John Mayer has such an amazing groove and vibe on the guitar and Jason Mraz and I share a positive (and nerdy) view of the world. Recently I have been listening to Josiah and the Bonnevilles and Nathan Rateliff. Maybe Vance Joy as well, there is so much amazing music coming out.
Where are you based? What is the local music scene like?
I live in Houston, Texas and we have an amazing singer-songwriter community. We could use more mid-sized venues and support for pop/rock acts. We have some really big rap and EDM people, as well as a few stadiums.
Do you have any UK tour dates lined up?
No, I would love to come to the UK, I have some great followers online and on Spotify there, and the rock/pop rock scene seems amazing!
Any last words for the fans?
Find something positive in your life and tell someone about it, let’s make the world a more positive place together
