How was your 2022?

My year so far has been chaotic! Lots of new changes, but I’m excited for what’s ahead.

You recently released a single titled Living How You Wanna Live. What can you tell us about the track?

Living How You Wanna Live is a hodgepodge of creative efforts. I wrote it as a way for not just others, but for myself to reflect – to think about whether or not your life is aligning with your values and dreams. Musically, I was very inspired by Radiohead and Fenne Lily at the time. I texted my bud Steven to see if he wanted to sing on it, and that was pretty much it.

How has the reception to Living How You Wanna Live been so far, and where can the song be purchased?

The reception has been so awesome. It has outperformed any release I’ve put out so far during its first month, and I’ve gotten so many sweet messages online. It can be purchased on any music platform and also at slowfuneral.bandcamp.com/track/living-how-you-wanna-live

You were a part of the group Salti Ray. Do you have any other projects on the go?

I was! Sometimes, I’ll sit in with friends at their shows, but no plans as of now for any projects that will be releasing music other than Slow Funeral.

Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future? Do you plan to release an EP or an album anytime soon?

I do! I hope by late spring to have a couple more singles out. Those will be a part of a full-length record that will hopefully be released this year.

Your music has an alt rock/indie sound. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?

Radiohead is probably one of the biggest influences of mine at the moment, but I’m really influenced by 90s stuff in general. The Foo Fighters, Soundgarden, Veruca Salt, Jeff Buckley, all that. I find myself really inspired by Americana too – Jason Isbell is a huge songwriting influence of mine. I’ve been diving a bit more into Springsteen lately. And, I’m always finding inspiration in my peers in the SC music scene and other up-and-coming bands. I’ve been listening to Blondshell, Wunderhorse, Chappell Roan and Sam Fender a ton.

Where are you based? What is the music scene like in your part of the world?

I am based out of Greenville, SC. The music scene is diverse, and all of South Carolina is becoming more and more connective as time goes on. Babe Club, Sidestep Dog, Darby Wilcox, Quality Time, Maxx Good$, Luxx, Stagbriar and Joseph Dubay are just a few names who are doing really wonderful things here.

Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?

I really wish, haha. I’m working on getting some dates lined up for the US, and hopefully one day, I’ll make my way over there.

Any last words for the fans?

Don’t forget to wash your buttcrack in the shower, kids.
