Interview: V of 40M

I recently completed a round-up review based around music within the trap genre. One of the artists I discovered was V of 40 M, producing the amazing track, PWR. It’s a great song showing all the hallmarks of the genre, whilst adding something a little extra. If you’d like to find out more, check out the interview below!

How was your 2022?

Hella trip but extra lit, you feel me. M’s was in motion, major lituation. The movement first, music last with a whole lot of love, pain and passion in between. We had a ball though – thankful, grateful and appreciative. The creator is good, you know. 2023 is going to go crazy for real, pay attention.

You recently released a single titled PWR. What can you tell us about the track?

Big revolutionary s***, heavy on the M. Black power, black independence – that’s the only way to rock. Inspired by the Black Panther Party, RIP to the ancestors and fallen soldiers who came before us ergo Bobby Hutton on the cover. All the revolutionaries, independence fighters, activists, etc and all Melanites across the world in general. Unite! My guy Hippie G did his motherf***ing thing, y’all make sure y’all search him up on all platforms asap! Don’t forget the name, Hippie G. 40M Tye extra lit as always, stay tuned because my bro on the way too. Don’t forget the name, 40M Tye.

How has the reception to PWR been so far, and where can the song be purchased?

PWR can be purchased on Amazon, iTunes, etc and is available on all platforms. We’ve gotten mad love with PWR, even from some unexpected audiences lol.

The track also features Hippie G and 40m Tye. How did the collaboration come about and can we expect more collaborations in the future?

First off, we’re all M’s so it was an automatic. Big 40 you dig. Hippie was on the rough draft already and Tye is a musician so it only made sense. We really f*** with each other through the movement, so the music is just a plus. We’ll definitely be dropping more together in the future for sure.

Do you plan to release any more singles in the coming months?

Yup, we have a couple more on the way before we hit y’all with a tape. Pure Black Power s*** too.

Do you plan to release an EP or an album anytime soon?

We do, a mixtape with the name to be announced at a later date. All original pieces though.

Your music has a definitive trap sound. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?

The greatest inspiration comes from the creator, the universe and the ancestors. My people, our history, our culture, etc and more importantly our future collectively. I listen to mad s*** for real, eclectic like a motherf***er but mostly drill as far as rap. Classic s*** too like Public Enemy, Rakim and Nas to name a few.

Where are you based? What is the music scene like in your part of the world?

We’re in the states with it right now, NC to be exact down in Pitt Co. and the surrounding areas. The whole world knows what the music scene is like in the US but here in this part of NC it’s not got a lot going on for real. If the artists would link and build each other up instead of competing, hating and tearing each other down then s*** would be lit by now and more focus would be on the region than it is.

Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?

Not yet but as soon as y’all send a bag the M Conquest of the UK shall begin lol.

Any last words for the fans?

Melanites aka ‘black’ people tap in. In 2023 we are asserting self determination and establishing ourselves as an independent nation, you feel me, so link up – @Vof40M on all socials and platforms. Everyone else stay tuned, we making ‘M’ajor ‘M’oves – heavy on 4’s!
