The Art Crimes Band are a Cork, Ireland-based act who have taken their inspiration from the early ’80s L.A. studio “golden era” which included acts such as Quincy Jones, Toto and Steely Dan for their track and video In The Dark of The Evening.

Written in 2020, the song takes on the mental health struggles we all felt during the isolation of pandemic lockdown, but the overall message is a positive one. That’s reflected by its uplifting sound, with handclaps, funky instrumentals and bright, chanting vocals.

Made up of Gary Baus on alto saxophone, Stephen Kirby on guitar, Niall Dennehy on drums, Grace McMahon on vocals, Tim O’Leary on bass and Katie O’Donnell on piano and keyboards, The Art Crimes Band are a group that I’m looking forward to getting to know better.
