London-based alternative pop artist Maya Yenn has been delighting us with her music since 2021. Each new track brings more strong song writing and a fresh approach to pop. Her latest is no exception. It’s called Sour Grapes.
By Graeme Smith
The sonic tapestry on which Sour Grapes is woven includes video games and nostalgic R&B. As a result, it’s not your run-of-the-mill pop song. Yet, it’s got a danceable groove and Maya’s unmistakably charismatic vocals meaning it is instantly approachable. Lyrically it speaks of alienation and disillusionment, making the track feel relatable too.
Written and co-produced by Maya, additional production and mixing comes from Michelangelo Dousis, mastering by Alex Gordon at Abbey Road Studio and the trumpet and flugelhorn you can hear comes courtesy of Gary Alesbrook. You can check out Sour Grapes below.
