Wayne Madder is a fantastic new up and coming artist – we reviewed his track, First Time I Met You, earlier in the year. If you missed it, you can find a stream at the bottom of this page. He’s got a fantastic sound, bringing a folky, Americana vibe back to the forefront of modern music.
Wayne Madder is a singer-songwriter, born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He currently lives in the Municipality of Scugog in Ontario, Canada. Wayne first burst onto the music scene in 2021 with his first single release, Crack in the Wall. The track is part of his 2022 album, Unconditional, and made it to semi-finals of the 2021 International Songwriting Competition. The album was later nominated as a contender for Album of the Year 2022 at the Oshawa Music Awards(OMAs).
Wayne’s latest album Disconnect was released at the start of February 2023, and I can tell you it’s an absolute classic already! Wayne’s voice has a smooth and soulful quality to it, drifting through his own brand of bluesy folk music in a lovely way. The album features seven tracks and can be purchased from Wayne’s Bandcamp, so if you like what you hear here, make sure you give it a whirl!
First Time I Met You can be found on Disconnect, but it’s surrounded by a whole slew of other interesting tracks. One particular favourite of mine is Not Going To Cry, which sees Wayne taking the tone down a notch. It’s a little more melancholy (as you might expect from the title), but it’s actually really beautiful at times. Wayne has a knack for creating beautiful acoustic guitar melodies, with little electric motifs also interspliced into the tune at occasional moments.
