New Music: Florie Namir – Silence Is Music

Florie Namir is a London-based Israeli singer songwriter who first appeared on this blog at the beginning of last year through her EP I Wanna Be In Love. Jane even followed up her review of it with an interview. Now it’s my turn to share her music. Her latest is a team up with Cameroonian “guitar wizard” Franck Biyong. It’s called Silence Is Music.

By Graeme Smith

You could roughly describe Silence Is Music as jazz, but the descriptor isn’t quite accurate enough. With elements of folk, country, and experimentation in there, it’s quite unlike anything I’ve heard before. Florie and Franck’s vocals work perfectly together to deliver their message of finding a moment of peace in an anxious world.

Alongside Franck and Florie, we’re treated with double bass from Lila Horovitz and cello from Tess Crowther. Percussion, guitar, keys and song writing come from Franck.

If you’re looking for something calming yet challenging to listen to today, look no further than Silence Is Music. You can check it out below.
