Silver Shores is a new 4-piece indie rock band hailing from the East Bay area of San Francisco. Despite being fairly new to the scene, they’re already very accomplished, as the tracks on their new EP, Silver Shores EP, show. It’s a largely upbeat record consisting of five amazing songs, perfect for those into the indie rock genre – whether you like the original indie scene or the more modern movement.

The EP kicks off in great style with Anew. The tempo is kept upbeat throughout, sounding rather positive as a whole. Spidery guitar melodies run through the verses and choruses, alongside the rhythm section. The vocals are a little distant sounding in the mix, but they help to create a more dreamy vibe that sounds perfect when mixed with the instrumentation. The solo towards the end is simple yet effective, showing just how strong this band is.
Standstill is the perfect title for the next track, as it’s a slowed down acoustic number, making for a nice change of pace. The production quality sounds great here and the vocals are a little more audible, allowing you to pay more attention to their lovely tone. The rest of the instrumentation kicks in after a while, although the track still retains more of a stripped-down feel at times – the piano is faint but it really works when it appears.
Now and Then is another track starting acoustically, with several acoustic guitar playing over each other. However, occasional electric motifs can be heard in the background, adding another layer to the piece. Like previous tune Standstill, it becomes a little more electrified later on, making for a nice balance. There’s a lot going on here, sounding like much more than a four piece!
Silencer brings things back up a notch, exuding energy from the very start. The electric guitars have a really nice sound here, retaining that jangly feel that the indie movement has become so well known for. The vocals drift through the music in an outstanding way, creating a gorgeous texture that will seep underneath your skin in no time.
Don’t Know Anything utilises the piano a little more, performing nicely underneath the vocals. It has a really clear and full sound, as the guitars are used in a nice way to accentuate the main piano melody. The track changes a little towards the end, as a stunning guitar solo erupts, sounding rather beautiful at times.
Hearsay is another song that starts with an acoustic sound, although with the piano and a xylophone following the acoustic guitars nicely here. It has a really positive vibe, closing the EP out nicely.
Silver Shores are surely a band headed for big things in the future, as their EP, Silver Shores EP, is magnificent to behold.
