Thailand is a nation we admittedly don’t hear much music from, so I was excited to stumble upon Sistir’s music. bridge. It’s a gorgeous pop song with a dreamy sound, making me want to find out more about this fascinating artist! You can find the track at the end of this interview if you like what you read!

You released a single titled bridge. What can you tell us about the track? The title ‘bridge
I got the inspiration for the title from a painting that my cousin made. It had two people with their heads connected by a bridge which represented where they met each other’s needs. bridge is about that give and take in a relationship and what can potentially happen when you give too much of yourself. When you cross too far over on the bridge to meet the other person’s needs and neglect your own. Musically it was inspired by artists such as Jungle, Florence and the Machine, Kyoto, Kid Francescoli and Moby.
How has the reception to bridge been so far, and where can the song be purchased?
I’ve been blown away with the reception it’s received, from being featured in well known Irish music blogs and playlists and getting played on BBC Introducing, to hearing people tell me how they have been singing it non stop. You can purchase it on Bandcamp or stream on Spotify, Apple Music, Deezer, Amazon, Youtube, Tidal… All the streaming platforms! I think it’s even on TikTok.
Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?
I have just released the 2nd single from my debut EP. It’s called in the eyes and it’s the follow up story of bridge. My next single is a completely different story. It has similar sounds but this time it is about the meaning behind the age old saying ‘touch wood’.
Your debut EP will be released in the coming months. What can you tell us about the EP and when will it be released?
There are 4 tracks on the EP and it will be out in May. Apart from bridge, the rest of the songs I wrote with my guitarist James Lock. One of the tracks is the first song we ever wrote together and is almost 7 years old!
Do you plan to release a full album anytime soon?
I would love to release an album soon and I definitely have enough songs, but for now I am just so happy that I will have my EP out. I will release some more singles before a whole album.
Your music has a dreamy-pop sound. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?
Honestly my influences change so often. I am always looking for new music but lately my go to bands for inspiration have been Beach House, Jungle, Tame Impala and Danit. Today I discovered a band called Weekend Players and I’m really excited to listen to more of them.
What do you think is the biggest challenge in the music business at the moment?
That’s a difficult question! I mean the challenges I face will be very different to someone who is further on in their career. I am only starting and reaching/ finding my audience has been very challenging. I have done a lot of research about it and it seems like you just need to be really active on social media and share a lot of your life. Coming to this conclusion and accepting it has actually been the biggest challenge for me as an artist. I am no longer just a singer songwriter – I have to be a content creator too. For the music industry in general, I don’t know, it could end up being AI to be honest!
You’re based in Thailand. How is the local music scene faring at the moment?
The music scene here in Chiang Mai is thriving! Very supportive crowds and live music on every corner. Jazz is very big here and there are a lot of talented musicians.
Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?
Unfortunately nothing to share at the moment but I am definitely feeling the urge to get out and perform these songs. I would love to go back to the UK and Ireland for some festivals.
