Interview: Alexandra Miller

Alexandra Miller is a French pop artist who makes glorious alt pop songs such as latest release, Trampoline. I really enjoyed the track and I can’t wait for Alexandra’s upcoming EP (also called Trampoline). If you’re into pop music you really should check her music out – we’re waiting with baited breath for the EP!

You released a single recently titled Trampoline. What can you tell us about the track?

Trampoline is the first track off my upcoming EP called Trampoline. It’s a song that describes the desire a woman can have for a man she just met. I wrote this song with Jean Charles Battistella, a very talented French producer and a friend of mine, and we tried to give the song a sensual vibe with a sexy bassline (which I’m very much a fan of) and dreamy synths.

How has the reception to Trampoline been so far, and where can the song be purchased?

Trampoline has had some great feedback so far, I’m very happy, some people told me they were hearing some Sade and Jessie Ware vibes and to me it is the best compliment. You can hear Trampoline on Spotify, Deezer and Amazon – it can also be purchased on Apple.

An acoustic version of the track was also released recently. Do you plan on releasing more acoustic songs in the future?

Yes I absolutely love to sing the acoustic versions of my tracks. It gives the song a new vision and gives it an intimate vibe – more authentic with less production. It’s like coming back to the very essence of the song, as I wrote the song in the first place with my guitar only. I really like to show this side of me also, the singer only, and give something raw and direct to my listeners. I will definitely do more acoustic versions of my upcoming songs and covers.

Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future? Do you plan to release an EP or an album anytime soon?

Yes, my new single called Dance With Me is coming out on the 5th of May. I’m very excited to showcase this one. A third one will be out a few weeks later for the release of my EP.

Your music has an alternative pop sound. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?

I think I’ve got an eclectic taste, I love pop, r&b, new soul and jazz, and I’ve been listening to a lot of artists lately. I’ve been inspired by Sabrina Claudio, Cleo Sol, Joesef, Lianne La Havas and Sade, to mention a few. My attention goes particularly to feminine vocals. I love feminine, dreamy, groovy vocals that showcase a sensitive world, and I wanted to bring these aspects to my music.

What do you think is the biggest challenge in the music business at the moment?

The biggest challenge is to reach as many people as possible and get your songs heard among the big number of songs out everyday. Staying true to yourself and keeping your real personality out there.

You’re from France. How is the local music scene faring at the moment?

There are a lot of festivals in France. We have a lot of opportunities to play our original music and open for artists locally. The next step is to reach Paris and the biggest festivals in France for me. However, singing songs exclusively in English in France can be tough.

Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?

Not yet, but I would love to! Maybe the UK audience is more used to listening to alternative artists – I I have the feeling they may like my songs.

Any last words for the fans?

I’m very excited for the future and I just can’t wait to release the songs and have your opinion about them. Your support means everything to me!
