Video: Birdeatsbaby – HEX

London and Brighton-based Birdeatsbaby have been on our radar since 2016, but it was only late last year that we shared their first music video on this blog. Since then, I’ve also had the pleasure of reviewing band member Mishkin Fitzgerald’s side project’s album Grace’s Cradle, and now they’re back with a new video. It’s called HEX.

HEX combines demonic texts with post-metal instrumentals to create something both fresh and ghoulish. It opens urgently, with a driving rhythm and electronic layers. The vocals are airy, floating above the heavy instrumentals before heading into growls in a wonderful contrast. The track is accessible yet experimental metal for all.

Birdeatsbaby are Mishkin Fitzgerald on vocals, Hana Piranha on cello, Garry Mitchell on guitar, Anna Mylee on drums, and Evan Rodaniche on production. Their label is Dead Round Eyes. HEX is the title track of their upcoming album and you can check out its video below.
