Interview: THORN

I tend to like my music on the less mainstream side of things, so I was extremely excited to discover THORN’s music. The track, WE ARE HAPPY (Of The Pale Criminal) is one of the most unique things I’ve ever heard, having a dark and eerie ambience that really draws you in. I wanted to find out more about this unique artist, and I certainly wasn’t disappointed!

You released a single titled We Are Happy (Of The Pale Criminal). What can you tell us about the track?

This track’s about my sex, lust and debauched times. I’ve spent a lot of time testing the waters and bringing dark reflections up from what I see.

How has the reception to the release been so far, and where can the song be purchased?

It’s been real fun! A lot of intrigue and disgust, interest and shock! It’s on all platforms as far as I know.

Do you plan to release any more singles anytime soon? Are there any plans to release a full-length album or an EP?

I’m in the mighty process of recording an album for later this year! But I’ve got lots of chunks of content in the works right now. You’ll have to keep an eye out.

Your music has a really unique sound. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?

My music influences are so eclectic it’s hard to start! From Tom Waits to The 1975 to Nine Inch Nails to Kanye West! I’m listening to Lewis Del Mars’ self-titled album right now.

Mental health awareness is a big part of your music. Are there any particular causes you’d like to draw attention to?

Yes! It’s a big part of what I want to provide the world as a musician. The CALM charity is Campaigning Against Living Miserably and they’re a brilliant organisation targeting unity and change. They’re focussed on standing together to reduce suicide.

Do you have anything else exciting coming up this year?

This album is a real fleshed out and experimental cacophony of what I’ve done before! I’m really delving into myself on this one!

You’re from Teignmouth. How is the local music scene faring at the moment?

I love Teignmouth! Everyone should come party with me hahaha! It’s the birthplace of Muse & the place is full of a lot of musical virtuoso geniuses. The location itself has a lot of inspiration in the scenery and works as a mint detox from the big smoke (London).

Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?

Gigs start when I say they start .

Any last words for the fans?

Love yourself. Trust yourself. Take pride in yourself. Follow your dreams and dream big! BIG LOVE!
