Electronic duo Sugar Nova are set to take the world by storm with their own brand of catchy electronic pop. Their song, Tiny Helicopters, was recently remixed by jack LNDN, making it sound even stronger than the original (although it’s still worth checking out!) You released a single titled Tiny Helicopters (jack LNDN Remix). What can you tell us about the track?
On the original track, Rachel wrote these poignant lyrics about mending relationship and how fixing those broken parts can make bonds stronger and more beautiful. For the the production I was going for a minimal arrangement that let the vocals shine through. We tried out different melodies, but in the end we went with a very simple 3 note verse melody. I thought this would setup the soaring chorus, by staying more static in the verses.
Jack took the original and added a sparkly remix. He re-harmonised the chords with mellow piano chords and added some bright percussion and vocals chops. His remix preserved the emotion of the original while giving it a new, almost tropical house spin.
How has the reception to the song been so far, and where can the song be purchased?
The reception has been good. I think Jack’s remix has put the song into the ears of people that might not have heard the original. It’s been added to some big playlists on Spotify, and it’s reach is growing. The remix can be purchased at sugarnova.bandca…-remix
How did the remix of the original version come about? Is this something you plan on doing more of in the future?
I contacted Jack about doing a remix back in the fall of 2022 and luckily it fit into his schedule.
Why did you decide to work with jack LNDN on the song?
I thought Jack would be perfect for this song because he has worked with female vocalists with great success in the past, and his work has an adjacent emotional aspect to it. He is also based out of Colorado, like Sugar Nova, so that was a nice confluence as well.
Do you plan to release any more singles over the coming months?
Yes, we plan to release more singles in the summer months. Follow Sugar Nova on Spotify to make sure you hear all the new tracks.
Are there any plans to release an EP or album of remixes?
There are more remixes coming of songs off our debut album Halogen. We will be releasing those through the summer. Eventually I think those will get combined into an EP of remixes. We’ve got some great artists lined up with varying styles.
The track has quite an obvious EDM sound. What/who influences you most as artists? What have you been listening to recently?
For this track there were influences from artists like Rufus du Sol and Marsh. Lately I’ve been listening to Gorgon City, DRAMA, Floating Points, Neil Francis.
Do you have anything else exciting coming up this year?
We have a festival in Ohio, some more dates in Colorado, and we’re working on some more studio releases coming up this year.
Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?
We don’t have any UK tour dates yet, but we would love to come and play sometime.
