Interview: Fleanger

I’ve recently been delving in the world of EDM and house music, with Fleanger being one such act from the scene. His track, Better, is well worth checking out if you like that style of music. If you’ve already listened to the song, you can find out more about Fleanger here.

You released a single titled Better. What can you tell us about the track?

The track Better was created on the train from Berlin to a town called Potsdam (a beautiful town full of palaces), after a few good months without creating.

How has the reception to the song been so far, and where can the song be purchased?

The reactions to the song were amazing, there was a lot of support from magazines, playlists on Spotify and the track is available for purchase on Beatport, of course.

Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?

I have a remix coming out for a pretty big artist in Miami in August and I just signed a one year deal with a record label in Switzerland, so there’s lots of new music until 2024.

Are there any plans to release an album or EP anytime soon?

I already have one album and one EP out there, there are plans for another mini-album in a slightly different style than mine (more melodic techno), which should also be released soon.

Your music has a definitive EDM sound. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?

My music and my musical influences are different from each other because I hardly ever listen to artists in the same musical style as mine. In terms of artists I really like, it’s more artists of the eighties. In the electronic scene I really connect with Avicii and Martin Garrix.

What is the writing and recording process like for you?

The process of creating my music usually starts with a melody and chords and on that I build the rest of the track. My goal in my music is to create a very specific atmosphere that I want to create at that moment.

You’re based in Germany. How is the local music scene faring at the moment?

I moved to Berlin. I was terribly afraid of my entry into the Berlin music scene, but in the process I met people who helped me integrate, most of them through social networks and through my friends. I was very pleasantly surprised, no wonder Berlin is the nightlife and culture capital of Europe.
