2023 has been a big one for Nigel. He’s travelled far and wide, kicking off the year with a co-bill tour in the UK with award-winning songstress Lauren Housley (UK). Then saw Official Showcases at UK Americana Music Week and Folk Alliance International. Followed by a tour of the USA in April, where he played the iconic MerleFest in North Carolina and Old Settler’s Music Festival in Texas. He’s also released a trio of singles from his upcoming album.

His most recent offering, A Moment Too Soon (released March 31st) is a kooky Americana-noir rumba that swaggers and sways to a retro vibe that smacks it straight back to the 60’s. Think after dark jazz club meets The Addams Family. This followed on from Wearne’s previous single To The Edge (released November 17th, 2022); a soulful, minor-key duet featuring guest vocals from Lauren Housley (UK).

Setting the scene was Black Behind The Blue (released September 1st, 2022); an Americana-noir-blues shuffle, doused with the swagger and sway of New Orleans jazz; rattling the walls with the high notes of Sidney Bechet and the clang and twang of Tom Waits and Marc Ribot.

To cap off a big year of international touring, Nigel has just been announced to play an Official Showcase at AmericanaFest in Nashville and festivals, Mile of Music (USA) and Bristol Rhythm & Roots Reunion (USA) this autumn.

Nigel performs at The Black Swan in York on July 20th.
