Admittedly, I’m not normally a big fan of mainstream pop, but Canadian singer Nette has managed to add her own unique sound to the genre.

Nette is clearly an incredibly talented songwriter, if Best Life is anything to go by. It certainly is catchy, having a sweet pop sensibility that should please any listener. However, the track also has more of an organic sound than most of the overly-commercialised pop music out there at the moment, containing a groovy bassline and some funky ska-style guitar chords. This instrumentation works perfectly with the bouncy rhythm, as Nette’s vocals soar in a lovely way over the top. You can give it a whirl here:
