Discovery: Liliia Chernyshova

I’ve shared a lot of neoclassical pieces recently, but Liliia Chernyshova’s music belongs more within the traditional classical world.

By Jane Howkins

The German composer has produced something that is simply astounding on The Way Home – it’s really, really beautiful, getting under you skin straight away. It opens with a gorgeous orchestral section, building up throughout the track until the lush piano melodies take centre stage. The orchestral elements still remain in the background, providing a nice backbone to the piece as they ebb and flow underneath the piano. Everything rises up again towards the end, resulting in a haunting crescendo of wonder.
