The three-concert ‘Troubadour Trail’, performed by saxophonist Huw Wiggin and harpist Oliver Wass, is set to bring beautiful music to beautiful venues during this year’s Ryedale Festival. The series displays music at its most mobile and simple, visiting three architectural gems of the region to perform pieces by Kovács, Albinoni, Ravel, Barry Cockcroft, Tarrega, Falla, and Andy Scott.
From the romance of Tarrega’s well-known Recuerdos de la Alhambra (originally written for guitar) to the modernity of Cockcroft’s Ku Ku for solo saxophone, the unusual instrument pairing dip into various periods and genres in this truly unique and mesmerising concert series.
The Troubadour Trail stops off at Christ Church in Appleton-le-Moors, All Hallow’s Church at Sutton-on-the-Forest, and St. Mary’s Church in Ebberston. The former two host the Trail as part of a series of Coffee Concerts, offering attendees the chance to grab cake and a drink before settling into their seats and letting the mesmerising sound fill the magnificent venues hosting the event.
