As part of one of my round-up reviews, I recently discovered talented artist 7HO3NIX, who creates gorgeous pop songs with more than a hint of r&b. I really enjoyed her latest release Touch Me with Your Words, and it seems like she has a few other releases coming up soon. Find out more below!

You recently released a new single titled Touch Me with Your Words, which I loved. What can you tell us about the song?
It’s about all the meaningful ways you can touch someone with your words and how intimacy goes beyond the physical.
How has the reception to the track been so far, and where can it be purchased?
People really love it. It’s been Shazam’d a bunch of times, which is exciting. It’s also got close to 60,000 streams after being released about a month now, and it has also been on around 180 playlists!
You also released a song titled It Is What It Is. What can you tell us about that track?
That song is really a song from my heart. In the bridge, I talk about the year 2021, when I got very close to committing suicide after experience intense grief and heartbreak. I spent my savings traveling searching for healing. I started out in Uganda and began to write this song. I finished the words in North Carolina out in the woods at an air b&b. Being able to write that moment out and admit what I had been through was an emotional moment that set me free to move forward and be happy again.
Touch Me with Your Words is your second single of 2023. Do you plan to release any more tracks this year?
Yes! Definitely more music on the way and I’m so excited.
Are there any EPs/albums in the pipeline at the moment?
I’m basically working on a project I call Lessons and Love. Although the name isn’t definite. But on the topic of overcoming depression and grief… I have some more material that I’m also going to release. I recently formed a partnership with the Ohio Suicide Prevention Hotline program called Life is better with you here that starts in August. It just feels amazing that I can support myself – not only doing what I love – but fighting the thing that tried to destroy me by helping others overcome it. September is suicide awareness month, and I hope I can make a difference in people’s lives and continue to heal.
Your music has pop/r&b sound. What/who influences you most as an artist? What have you been listening to recently?
I’m definitely inspired by the music of the 90s and 2000s like Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, all the boy bands and girl groups etc., as well as the Jackson 5. But right now I am absolutely bumpin the new Tori Kelly album. It is straight fire. Timbaland and Darkchild on the same project with my favorite singer?!! I am so inspired!
Do you have anything else exciting coming up this year?
Right now I am part of this contest called The Opening Act. I really want people to go vote for me, so I will give you my link! If I win… Yeah, I know it would be a miracle… But if I win, I get to open for something called the We Can Survive concert. In the past people like Lizzo and Taylor Swift have performed there. Ironically, it’s also about fighting suicide. People can vote for me for free or they can make a donation to the national suicide prevention foundation in my name to give me a boost. Performing for this concert just feels meant to be, but I know I’m not in control. I’m just grateful that I made it past auditions. We’ll see what happens!

Where are you based? What is the local music scene like with you at the moment?
I’m in Columbus, Ohio. The local scene is kind of cool and has been recently growing and getting better. There are a lot of opportunities for artists and we have something called the greater Columbus Arts Council that really supports us.
Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?
Not yet! I need to just make those connections! If you have any, let me know!
Any last words for the fans?
I really appreciate you taking the time to listen to my song and to vote for me in this contest. If you enjoy my music or relate to my story, please follow me on Spotify and Instagram to join me on this crazy journey.
