This autumn, acclaimed multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Mike Skinner will exclusively tour Everyman cinemas nationwide giving audiences a first look at his visionary, debut feature film, The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light.
The Darker The Shadow, The Brighter The Light has been entirely crafted by Mike Skinner, who wrote, directed, filmed, edited and scored the film, and follows the seemingly mundane life of a DJ on a journey through authentically depicted nightclub scenes to create a tripped-out modern-day murder mystery all its own.
tarting and ending in London and circling through UK cities such as Cardiff, Birmingham, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Bristol, Mike Skinner’s exclusive Q&A tour commences on Tuesday 19 September 2023 at Everyman Plymouth, before heading to thirteen Everyman venues across the UK and promises to be a truly unique cinematic experience. Each screening will be followed by a live Q&A with Mike Skinner hosted in-person at each participating Everyman venue, providing an insight into his remarkable mind and the music and story behind the film.
The Streets, Skinner’s musical project, which examines life’s nuances to turn the mundane into the extraordinary, has also announced its first full-length album since 2011, which bears the same name as the film and is intrinsic to its development by providing the soundtrack to the story. Whilst neither the album or the film exist without each other – both can be enjoyed separately.
The Leeds date will be held on 21st September and the York date will be held on 25th September.
