Vancouver-based singer-songwriter Gert Taberner creates a gorgeous form of modern folk music in his latest release.

To Break sounds beautiful from the very start, opening with a lovely fingerpicked guitar melody, played in fast time. The guitar makes up most of the instrumentation, although there are some occasional piano trickles heard in the background. Gert’s vocals are the real focal point here though, sounding extremely heartfelt as his vocals wrap themselves around the haunting chords used. The backing vocals are also used well, adding a subtle beauty to the piece. If that sounds good, check out the video here:
