Swiss musician Roland Köppel takes a new look at the jazz genre, adding his own unique twist on the modern variation of the style.

Rhizome (feat. Roberto Koch) certainly turns modern jazz on its head, introducing a wonderfully divergent sound. Roland is clearly extremely talented, creating some gorgeous melodies within the piece. It starts out with a syncopated motif that also adds a rhythmic sense to the piece, continuing until it breaks down into a more classical-based sound. However, the main melody appears soon again, followed by some interesting plucked strings. If you like your jazz, you really should check this out!
