I’m always on the lookout for music that’s a little different from the norm, so I couldn’t help but love Strange Rainn! His track Detained Bliss caught my attention with its dreamy vibes. He’s got a fantastic back catalogue, so make sure you take a listen if you like what you read here!

You’ve recently released a single titled Detained Bliss. What can you tell us about the track?

Detained Bliss is a track that combines the genres I like and see myself in the most. Its structure is pretty straightforward and it has those haunting noises that occur over and over on the album. I think the song is familiar. yet different enough to invite new listeners to discover more of my music.

How has the reception to Detained Bliss been so far, and where can it be purchased?

The reception was very good! It got a lot of attraction on playlists and I am all in all happy with the first month since the release! Let’s see how it holds up!
The track can be streamed on all platforms and purchased on Bandcamp. Also there is a music video on YouTube!

Do you plan to release any more singles in the near future?

Yes, I will at least release one more single this year. Since I am doing it all on my own, from writing, to recording and producing, it sometimes can take a while. Also, the artwork is done by me, so there are a lot of things to do, but it’s fun and I don’t like to pressure myself!

An album was released in July titled Face Arms Speech Time. What can you tell us about the album?

The album has 9 tracks including the single Detained Bliss. I tried to make it very versatile, reaching from indie to techno, to shoegaze and ambient music. The lyrics and title focus on the topic of dementia or more broader spoken: forgetting and being forgotten. I will explain more of what is behind the album on social media in the upcoming weeks and months.

Have you started writing for your next full-length release, or is it too soon yet?

No, not really. As I said some singles will be released over the following months and another thing I want to put my time into is social media and playing live!

Your music is very unique, having quite a dreamy quality. What/who are you most influenced by?

Thanks! I very much admire music that has a dreamy vibe. An artist that takes a big part in my life is trentemøller! He is the first artist I discovered making electronic music that I liked. Specially the album The Last Resort. Other bands that have a big part in my life are Ceremony (The L-Shaped Man) and Moderat. I come from a background of punk, metal and hardcore. Maybe that also can be heard in my music.

Do you have anything else exciting coming up?

The next thing for me is playing live and creating more content! I want to make the album more visible! I also would like to collaborate with others. Write to me if you feel the same!

Am I right in thinking your moniker is named after actor Rainn Wilson? Why did you decide to name this project after him?

It’s not really named after him, but I like his work very much! He is brilliant in The Office! I wanted the name of a person for the project to give it something personal, and one day I stumbled upon Strange Rainn and liked it so much that I kept it. I like the ambiguous meaning, matching the dreamy vibe.

Do you have any tour dates lined up for the UK?

There are no tour dates for 2023, but maybe in 2024. It would be a pleasure to play around the UK! Contact me if you like what I do!
